Background

There are many women who work in choral music, mostly as educators, animateurs, conductors of youth choirs and/or amateur community choral associations, church musicians and composers. Wavelength seeks to explore and challenge the issues and barriers facing women in their careers as well as offer sessions to women who would like training, discussion and CPD on their own musical development.

Our work will focus on establishing a forum for women choral conductors that provokes discussion, and also supports and promotes women choral conductors across musical genres, ethnicity, age and disability.  Our sessions and panels feature some of the most highly regarded choral leaders in their field. We aim to provide mentoring to women at all stages of their career, and to take an active role in empowering them to realise their own goals.

Wavelength aims to cover these elements of choral leadership:

  • Networking Opportunities
  • Leadership Development/Dynamics
  • Mentoring
  • 1:1 Tuition for women at all stages of singing leadership

  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Guest Choir Performances
  • Masterclasses
  • Career Progression
